I'm currently studying Software Engineering at East Carolina University. Prior to returning to school, I gained diverse experience working in various trades. I've been a commercial diver, commercial truck driver, pipefitter, and drywall/acoustic installer - jobs that took me across the U.S. These roles taught me the value of hard work, problem-solving under pressure, and working with others to complete complex projects.
When I'm not studying, I enjoy exploring entrepreneurial opportunities in web development, mobile apps, and emerging technologies. I'm constantly researching new ideas and prototyping potential products and services. My hope is to one day start my own tech company.
In addition to software engineering, my academic interests include geopolitics, education reform, and African history. In my spare time, I enjoy learning about global events and society through diverse lenses.
Music has always been an important part of my life. I have eclectic tastes but am especially drawn to R&B and hip hop from the 70s through 90s. Beyond just entertainment, I see music as a way to better understand different cultures and time periods.
My goal in college is to gain the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in the technology industry while also broadening my perspectives. I'm dedicated to using software for positive change and looking beyond today to help shape the future.
